Final Stats

THIBODAUX, La. - Texas State led by as many as 24 points in the first half, and Nicholls came within 11 points in the second before falling 70-58 on Saturday afternoon in Stopher Gym.

Texas State held a 19-point - 34-15 - advantage at halftime, but that didn't stop Nicholls from a strong second half showing that saw they come within 11 points. Senior Christie Bryant sank a runner in the lane to cut the deficit to 56-45 with 7:07 left, however the Bobcats got a quick basket from Gabriell Mattox on the ensuing possession and never looked back.

The Colonels (1-22, 1-11) had three players to score in double digits with Bryant leading all scorers with 18. Senior Dominique Washington also had 12 points while true freshman Nadia Cox tallied 10 to round out Nicholls' double-figure scorers.

The Bobcats (11-13, 5-7) had two players cross the decade mark with Ashley Cole leading Texas State with 16. Mattox was the only other Bobcat to score 10-plus with 14 off the bench. Mattox was also one rebound shy of a double-double.

Both teams in the game combined for 41 personal fouls, while each made 27 trips to the charity stripe. Nicholls converted 19 of its free shots, while Texas State made 20. The Bobcats also committed 31 turnovers to the Colonels' 21.

Only one three-pointer was made on either side, which was courtesy of senior Tiffany Jones late in the second half. Nicholls finished 1-of-7 from downtown, while Texas State was 0-for-5.

Nicholls will be back in action against Central Arkansas on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. in Stopher Gym.
