Nicholls dropped games against Boston College and SIU-Edwardsville on Saturday in the Centenary Tournament.
The Colonels (2-2) dropped a 3-1 decision to Boston College to start off the day, and then fell 1-0 in eight innings to SIU-Edwardsville.
In the first game of the day, Boston College (1-3) scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and it was all that was needed as the Eagles won 3-1. Nicholls lone run came in the top of the third when true freshman Kara Harrington was plated on a fielder's choice. Harrington, who pinch ran for true freshman Kayla Watterson, scored via a sharply hit ball by true freshman Megan Gaspard to the shortstop, causing the fielders choice.
Junior Lacey Gros was stamped with the loss, tossing the complete game, giving up three runs on seven hits and striking out seven.
In the second contest, Nicholls and SIU-Edwardsville (2-2) were tied in a scoreless affair until the top of the eighth when the Cougars' Chaleen Rumpf hit a RBI single to left field for the game's only run. In the bottom half of the eighth, the Colonels left three runners on base as the Cougars gunned down two would be scorers at the plate.
Junior Audrey Wood was dubbed with the loss, pitching all eight innings and only allowing one run while fanning eight. Leading Nicholls at the plate was Gaspard with a 2-for-4 showing.
Nicholls will close out the tournament tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. against host school Centenary.
