Sophomore Elyse Kinley fired a one-over par during the final round of the Southern Mississippi Lady Eagle Invitational to finish tied for 7th place with a 151 (78-73). This marks the first time this season that Kinley has earned a top 10 finish for the Lady Colonels.
Nicholls, who went into the final round in fourth place, fell just one spot to finish fifth overall out of the 10-team field. The Lady Colonels finished with a 633 (314-319) for the 36-hole event.
The Southern Mississippi Lady Eagle Invitational was held at par 71, 6,031-yard Canebrake Golf Course.
Other Lady Colonel golfers included freshman Sofia Joensson (10th - 152/75-77), freshman Natalie McLane (T27 - 163/82-81), freshman Brooke Braun (T38 -167/79-88) and senior Emiley Patton (50th - 175/86-89).
Tournament host Southern Mississippi won the overall team title with a 597 (295-302), while Lorie Warren of Belmont University took home the individual medalist honors by shooting a one-over par 143 (71-72).
The Colonels will take a three-week break before closing out their season in the Southland Conference Championships on April 20-22 in Kinder, La., held at Koasiti Pines Golf Course.
