BATON ROUGE, La. -
No.19 LSU put a run on the scoreboard in every inning en route to its 8-0 victory over Nicholls on Wednesday night at Tiger Park.
The Tigers (12-4, 0-0 SEC) put a two-spot on the scoreboard in the first, third and fourth innings, and the umpires called the game due to the 8-run rule after five innings. LSU had six players register a hit, while Kristen Shortridge led the way with a 3-for-3 showing with two RBI and two runs scored.
The Colonels (16-6, 6-0 SLC) only had two hits in the game with both coming off the bat of true freshman Megan Gaspard. Gasprad finished 2-for-3 in the loss.
Picking up the loss for Nicholls was junior Audrey Wood to fall to 7-4 on the season. Wood gave up five runs, all earned, on six hits through three innings of work in the circle.
Nicholls will be back in action this weekend at Texas-Arlington (5-13, 1-5 SLC). The three-game series will begin Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
