Final Stats

THIBODAUX, La. - Nicholls women's tennis team lost at Sam Houston State 6-1 on Saturday, and fell at Stephen F. Austin 4-3 on Sunday.

The Colonels (2-3, 1-3) only point in the loss against the Bearkats (6-4, 1-2) came in singles play with junior Nicole September defeating Stasa Vujosevic in three sets, 6-3, 0-6, 1-0 (10-7). Junior Sanja Stanojcic also forced three sets, but fell 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (14-12).

Nicholls match against Stephen F. Austin (3-8, 2-1) came down to the wire with the Colonels ending up to the wrong end of a 4-3 decision. The Colonels won the doubles point with the duo of sophomores Natalia Zamora and Sumana Kalyanasundram picking up an 8-2 victory. September and freshman Ciska Wouters won the final doubles match 8-5 to ensure the doubles point for Nicholls.

Kalyanasundram and Stanojcic continued to shine in singles, picking up Nicholls only two victories in lone play. Kalyanasundram defeated Sanjana Kapur 6-1, 2-6, 10-8, while Stanojcic took down Gabriela Gadeva 6-4, 5-7, 10-8. Also forcing three sets were sophomore Florina Nosca and Zamora, but could not get the win in singles play.

Nicholls will be back in action on Tuesday March 10 when they host Austin Peay. First serve is slated for 1:30 p.m.
