THIBODAUX, La. - Junior righthander Tyler Minto (Mobile, Ala./Alabama Southern CC) tossed a complete game shut out as the Colonels picked up a 3-0 victory over Central Arkansas Sunday afternoon at Ray E. Didier Field.

Minto, who made his eighth start of the season, scattered six hits through nine complete innings. The righty fanned a career-high nine batters and did not issue a walk in the outing.

"I'm really proud of Tyler [Minto]," said Colonel skipper Chip Durham. "Our defense was good and our offense showed who we really are. We're scrappy. we draw walks, get hit and steal bases to put guys in scoring position."

In the bottom of the second, Jason Dennis (Mobile, Ala./Alabama Southern CC) knocked a single to right center, scoring Adam Miley (Baton Rouge, La./Bosier Parish CC) and Josh Labiche (Reserve, La./Delgado CC) for a 2-0 Colonel lead.

Nicholls extended the lead to 3-0 in the third, adding a run when Keith Kulbeth (Opelousas, La./Westminister Christian Academy) singled in Chris Murrill (Mobile, Ala./Alabama Southern CC).

Labiche turned in a 2-for-2 performance at the plate, while Josh Swenson went 2-for-4.

Nicholls finished with seven team hits off of UCA starter Bobby Pritchett, who also went the distance in the game.

"Overall," Durham added, "today was a really good performance from the whole team. Hopefully we can carry this momentum in the league and play solid baseball through the end of the season."

For Central Arkansas, Jonathan Yerby recorded the only extra-basehit of the game, doubling down the left field line in the second, but Minto did not allow another Bear to advance beyond first.

The Colonels will host Loyola (N.O.) Tuesday night before traveling to LSU Wednesday.
