Final Stats

THIBODAUX, La. - Nicholls women's tennis team evened its season's record over the weekend, posting victories over Southern and Jackson State in non-conference action, while defeating McNeese State in conference play.

The Colonels (8-8, 2-7 SLC) only took one loss on the weekend, falling to Lamar 6-0 on Sunday at the Colonel Softball Complex.

Nicholls first win of the weekend, a 4-0 victory, came at Southern on Thursday. Sophomores Florina Nosca, Natalie Zamora and Sumana Kalyanasundram posted victories in singles play, while junior Sanja Stanojcic was winning 5-3 in her first set before it was called due to the match being decided.

The second win on the weekend, a 5-2 victory, was against Jackson State at home against Jackson State. Nosca, Zamora, Kalyanasundram and Stanojcic all posted victories in singles. Also picking up a singles win was true freshman Ciska Wouters. Wouters nabbed a 6-3, 6-2 victory at the No.5 spot in the lineup.

The Colonels then floundered against Lamar on Sunday, dropping a 6-0 decision. Kalayansundram and Stanojcic each forced three sets, but couldn't get the third set to garner a victory.

However, Nicholls bounced back nicely on Monday, picking up a 5-2 victory over McNeese State. Nosca, Zamora, Kalyanasundram, Stanjocic and Wouters all posted victories in singles play to get the win.

Nicholls will be back in action at Alcorn State on Wednesday.
