THIBODAUX, La. - Six Colonel pitchers combined to give up 11 runs on 18 hits Tuesday night as Nicholls fell 11-2 to South Alabama in midweek, non-conference action at Ray E. Didier Field.

The Colonels drop to 17-22 on the season, while USA improves to 19-20.

"I don't feel really good about this team right now," said head coach Chip Durham. "We're not playing very well. We're not putting the ball in play when we need to and we're not getting those timely hits to bring runners in."

Jaguar starting pitcher Ryan Bohanan launched a three-run shot over the left field fence in the top of the first to give South Alabama all the runs it would need for the victory.

Jake Parrish (Alburquerque, N.M./Northeast Oklahoma State) drops to 1-4 on the season after giving up eight runs (five earned) on nine hits through three innings of work.

The most effective Colonel pitcher of the night was Brad Delatte (St. Amant, La./St. Amant), who threw two innings of one-hit relief, fanning three batters.

Bohanan, who improves to 1-1 with the victory, issued the Colonels' two runs in the second.

After Scott Moseley (Enterprise, Miss./Meridian CC) led off the inning with a double to left center and Zach Tisdale (Petal, Miss./Pearl River CC) drew a walk, the Colonels plated both runners on a Jaguar error and a sac bunt.

Moseley went 2-for-4 at the plate and was the only Colonel with a multi-hit game.

"We had opportunities to get ourselves in this ball game early and we didn't take advantage of them," Durham added. "We're in a rut right now and we need to get out of it. We've got to do something to get our momentum back and start playing well."

For the Jaguars, Bohanan turned in a 2-for-4 performance with four RBI and a run scored.

After a three-run first, South Alabama added a run in the third and four in the fourth to pull ahead 8-0.

The Colonels will host UTSA in Southland Conference action this weekend.
