NATCHITOCHES, La. - The Demons scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth take a 10-8 lead and earn the series victory over Nicholls in Sunday's finale at Brown-Stroud Field.

Northwestern State scored a run in the bottom of the first and held a 1-0 lead until the top of the fourth when Nicholls scored a pair of runs on a Demon error and a sac fly from Brady Bourque (Gonzales, La./LSU-Eunice).

The Colonels (12-17, 6-9 SLC) added to the lead with a five-run fifth when Scott Moseley (Enterprise, Miss./Meridian CC) and Beau Faulk (Houston, Texas/Strake Jesuit) each drove in two RBI with doubles through the left side.

Moseley and Faulk each went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI apiece.

Chris Murrill (Mobile, Ala./Alabama Southern CC) and Josh Swenson (Applevalley, Minn./North Iowa Area CC) also turned in two-hit performances.

A solo homerun off the bat of Keith Kulbeth (Opelousas, La./Westminister Christian Academy) in the sixth gave Nicholls a seven-run lead, 8-1.

The Demons answered with three of their own in the bottom half of the inning and six more in the eighth to take the lead, 10-8.

Colonel starter Tyler Minto (Mobile, Ala./Alabama Southern CC) fanned six batters in his sixth start of the season. The righthander gave up four runs on seven hits, and did not issue a walk through six innings of work.

Ross Larson falls to 1-2 on the year after giving up three unearned runs in the eighth inning.

Nicholls will travel to Mobile, Ala., Tuesday for a 6 p.m. first pitch vs. the South Alabama Jaguars.
