HAMMOND, La. - Nicholls baseball suffered an 9-4 loss to Southeastern La. on Friday night at Alumni Field, leaving 11 runners on base in the defeat.

Leading the Colonels (18-26, 8-17) at the plate were juniors Brady Bourque and Adam Miley with each registering a homerun. Putting forth multi-hit performances were juniors Adam Moseley and Jason Dennis.

Junior hurler Jarret Dunnam took the loss for Nicholls, tossing 6.1 innings and giving up eight runs - five earned - on nine hits while fanning four and walking one. With the loss, Dunnam fell 3-7 on the season.

The Lions (29-17, 16-9) drew first blood in the bottom of the third inning with a two-RBI double by Ty Summerlin to left centerfield. Nicholls was able to stop the bleeding, and responded in the top of the fourth with a leadoff solo-homerun by junior Adam Miley to cut into the lead, 2-1.

Then the Colonels took the lead in the top of the sixth, scoring three runs to take the 4-2 advantage. The first of the runs came on a RBI double down the leftfield line by Dennis to plate junior Zach Tisdale. Tisdale singled to left center in his at bat.

The final two runs for the Colonels in the sixth came on a Bourque homerun over the left centerfield fence. Bourque's homer scored Dennis to signify the Colonel onslaught. In the bottom half of the inning, Southeastern La. picked up one to close the gap, 4-3.

The Lions then turned on their bats in the bottom of the seventh, scoring five runs on five hits to retake the lead, 8-4, heading into the final two innings.

Nicholls failed to score in the final two stanzas, while the Lions added a score in the bottom of the eighth to improve on its lead.
