MOBILE, Ala. - The Nicholls State University women's volleyball team (3-5) got the weekend started off on the right foot as the Colonels amassed a .410 team hitting percentage and just six attack errors in a straight-set 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-18) win over the Jackson State Tigers on Friday afternoon in the opening match of the Jaguar Classic hosted by South Alabama.

The Colonels totaled 38 kills on 78 attempts and made just six attack errors for a .410 team hitting percentage in Friday's win. Meanwhile, the Nicholls defense recorded three blocks and 34 digs to hold Jackson State to a .095 hitting percentage (27-19-84).

On a night when six Nicholls newcomers would see the floor, it was only fitting that a freshman would post the biggest numbers of the night. Jennifer Dunn totaled 12 kills and a .550 hitting percentage (12-1-20) to lead the Colonels in both categories.

Nicholls' freshman setter, and Mobile native, Nancy Taylor posted a team-high 18 assists in her homecoming effort.

The Colonels will try to make it four wins in their last five matches, but will have to overcome a quick turnaround, when they face host South Alabama at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Nicholls will round out the weekend with a 4 p.m. tilt against Southern Miss later that same day.
