Final Stats

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Nicholls State University men's tennis team fell 6-1 to nationally ranked Texas A&M on Saturday to open the 2010 campaign.

The lone victory in singles play came in No. 6 spot in the lineup for the Colonels with freshman newcomer Roy Knight overpowering the Aggies Calon Alpar for the 6-4, 7-6 (3), 1-0 victory. Knight was the only Colonel to force three sets in singles.

Seniors Vlad Popa and Phenyo Matong hung tough in their matches, forcing tie breakers in a set each, but were retired.

Nicholls will be back in action tomorrow against Prairie View A&M in Prairie View, Texas. First serve is set for Noon.
