Final Stats

After suffering a season opening loss to nationally ranked Texas A&M, the Nicholls State University men's tennis team recovered with a 7-0 victory over Prairie View A&M on Sunday afternoon.

The Colonels (1-1) swept the Panthers (0-2) in all singles matches, defeating all foes in two sets. Getting an impressive win in singles play was true freshman Dmitry Kozinov with a 6-1, 6-1 defeat at the No.4 spot in the lineup. It was Kozinov's first collegiate win.

Staying undefeated on the season was true freshman Roy Knight with his 6-1, 6-2 victory in the No.5 slot.

The tag team duo of junior Radu Ionescu and senior Vlad Popa dominated in doubles action, posting an 8-1 victory over the pairing of Kudakwash Nyatoti and Craig Wiltz at the top spot.

Nicholls will be back in action on Saturday January 30 at NAIA power Xavier (La.) in conjunction with the women. First serve is set for Noon.
