Junior Ricshanda Bickham and true freshman Alisha Allen each put forth 16 points to lead the Nicholls State University women's basketball team, but it would not be enough on Saturday afternoon as the Colonels fell 60-49 against the Southeastern La. Lions in the University Center.
Allen also added to her stat sheet with 11 rebounds, marking her second career double-double. She also never left the floor in the defeat, playing the entire 40 minutes.
The Lions were had three players score in double figures with Amber Crenshaw leading the way with 14 off the bench. Zevy Ivory also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Colonels (3-16, 0-7 Southland) committed 26 turnovers against Southeastern La. that led to 28 Lion points, ultimately deciding the game. The Lions (9-11, 3-4 Southland) committed 17 turnovers that led to 16 Colonel points on the opposite end.
For the game, Nicholls was 38.3 percent (18-of-47) from field goal range, topping Southeastern La. in the category with 35.2 percent (19-of-54) showing. Both teams were even in rebounding with each hauling in 35.
Nicholls will be back in action against Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday night in Stopher Gym. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
