Final Stats
SAN MARCOS, Texas -
Junior Ricshanda Bickham put forth 27 points, but it would not be enough on Thursday night in Strahan Coliseum as Texas State defeated Nicholls State University women's basketball team 62-50.
The Colonels (4-20, 1-11 Southland) trailed by only three - 26-23 - at the midway point, but the Bobcats (6-17, 2-10 Southland) built a double digit lead early on in the second half that they never relinquished.
The game had a total of nine lead changes and three ties before Texas State rallied in the second half to a double figure advantage.
Bickham was the only Colonel to cross the 10-point plateau, while the Bobcats had three players score in double digits with Kelsey Krupa leading the way with 17. Krupa was 4-of-6 from three-point range in the game, while the Colonels' Bickham added seven rebounds and six steals to her stat sheet.
As a team, Nicholls shot a season's worst 14.3 percent (2-of-14) from three-point territory to go along with a 32.1 percent (18-of-56) showing from field goal range. The Colonels also lost the rebounding battle, 39-to-33.
Nicholls will have Saturday off, but will resume the club's three-game road swing with a trip to Central Arkansas on February 24. Tip-off in Conway, Ark. is set for 7 p.m.
