Conway, Ark. -
Junior Ricshanda Bickham led all scorers with 26 points, but it was not enough as the Nicholls State University women's basketball team fell 83-68 to the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears on Wednesday night at the Farris Center.
Bickham also recorded four steals, giving her a total of 85 on the season and one shy of tying the Nicholls single-season record.
Also scoring in double digits for the Colonels (4-21, 1-12 Southland) in the loss was true freshman Alisha Allen with 13 points and sophomore Jasmine Hoskins with 12. Allen was also a rebound shy of her third career double-double.
Leading the Sugar Bears (20-6, 10-3 Southland) was the conference's leading scorer and rebounder true freshman Megan Herbert with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Herbert was one of four Central Arkansas players to score in double digits in the win.
UCA took the lead within the first two minutes of the game, and never relinquished it the rest of regulation. The Sugar Bears built their advantage to as many as 19 points late in the second half.
The Colonels will be back in action on Saturday at McNeese State, preceding the men's contest against the Cowboys. Tip-off in Lake Charles is set for 1 p.m.
