LAKE CHARLES, La. - The Nicholls State University women's basketball team fell to McNeese State, 71-52, on Saturday afternoon in Burton Coliseum, and in the loss, junior Ricshanda Bickham broke the Nicholls single-season steals record.

Bickham only needed one steal to tie the mark of 86 set by Katherine Plummer in the 2006-07 season, and got two swipes to own the record with two games left on the season. The New Orleans, La. native now stands with 87 steals on the year.

Bickham also led the Colonels (4-22, 1-13 Southland) in scoring in the loss with 15 points, while sophomore Chelsea McNamee had 12, true freshman Alisha Allen had 11, and junior Cassie Hearon was the final Colonel in double figures with 10.

The Cowgirls (7-20, 3-11 Southland) were led by Kiara Johnson with 20 points, while Kendra Wells was the only other McNeese State player in double digits with 12.

Nicholls never led in the loss, but only trailed by five - 26-21 - at the half. McNeese State out-scored Nicholls 45-31 in the second half en route to getting the win, building its lead to as many as 20 points in the second stanza.

Nicholls will be back in action at home on Wednesday against Texas-Arlington at 6:30 p.m. It will be the final home game for the Colonels.
