The loss splits the season series between the two East Division rivals after Nicholls came away with a 70-63 win in Thibodaux on Jan. 16.

After SFA's Denzel Barnes hit a pair of free throws with 5:00 remaining in the half, the Colonels found themselves trailing the Lumberjacks 54-44. However, the Colonels rallied with an 11-4 run over the next 3:11. Bose capped the run after being fouled on a three-point attempt and converting on all three foul shots to bring Nicholls to within three at 58-55 with 49 seconds left.

Jordan Glynn hit a free throw to make it 59-55 in favor of the Lumberjacks, but sophomore guard Chris Iles buried a three to make it a one-point game with 38 seconds left. Forced to foul, the Colonels sent SFA to the line twice more in the second half. Fortunately, for Nicholls, the Lumberjacks only hit two of their four final free throw attempts to make it 61-58. With time winding down, junior guard Kenny Franklin Jr. buried a three with just three seconds remaining to tie things up at 61-61 and force overtime.

SFA started quickly with a 4-0 run to open the extra five minutes. However, Nicholls got a free throw from Iles and a three from Bose to tie things up at 65-65 with 1:35 left.

However, Nicholls connected on ten three point attempts, forced 15 SFA turnovers and recorded 11 steals (three of which came from Thibodaux native Bryson Triggs in his first career start) to stay close to the Jacks and force overtime.

The Colonels will return to action on Saturday February 6 at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi when Nicholls visits the Islanders for TAMUCC's homecoming game. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.
