Final Stats

THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University men's and women's tennis teams picked up non-conference wins at Jackson State on Wednesday with the men winning 6-1 and the women getting a 5-2 victory.

The men (7-2) won their seventh match of their last eight with the win with the only loss in the match coming at No. 2 singles. Senior Phenyo Matong suffered the defeat, playing only his second match of his career at the No. 2 spot in the lineup.

All of the men's victories in singles were decided decisively in two sets.

The women (3-4) got a much needed win after suffering two back-to-back close conference losses. Junior Florina Nosca continued her dominance at No. 1 in singles, winning 6-2, 6-2 over Angela Rose. Also getting wins in singles were sophomore Tatiana Denezhkina and senior Sanja Stanojcic.

The women will square off against McNeese State on Saturday, while the men will host Troy on Sunday.
