Final Stats

ARLINGTON, Texas - The Nicholls State University men's tennis team never found its groove on Friday afternoon, falling 6-1 to conference foe UT-Arlington in the club's final league match of the regular season.

The Colonels (13-5, 2-3 Southland) only win against the Mavericks (7-11, 2-1 Southland) came at No. 3 singles with freshman Dmitry Kozionov defeating Brieuc Hamon 6-0, 3-6, 6-5 (5).

Nicholls' junior Radu Ionescu forced three sets at the No. 1 spot, but could not get the win as he fell to Dimitry Minkin 6-2, 1-6, 1-0 (10-6).

The rest of the Colonel lineup fell in two sets in singles play. Nicholls also was shutout in doubles, unable to get and points out of the three matches.

The Colonels match against UT-Dallas was cancelled, and the team will close out the season against Air Force on Sunday.
