Final Stats

THIBODAUX - The Nicholls State University women's tennis team rolled to its sixth win in its last seven outings by rolling to a 6-1 win over conference rival Central Arkansas in Thibodaux on Friday afternoon.

The Colonels dominated the Bears on Friday, winning five of six singles matches and all three doubles matches en route to the 6-1 victory.

Florina Nosca got the Colonels started with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Central Arkansas' Petra Keilova. Natalia Zamora followed with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Lisa Mainz. Tatiana Denezhkina picked up a 6-1, 6-3 win, Sumana Kalyanasundarm won 6-2, 6-4 and Sanja Stanojcic wrapped up singles action with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.

The Colonels continued to roll in doubles action later in the day. Nosca-Zamora claimed an 8-1 victory, Harrison-Denezhkina won 8-6 and Stanojcic-Kalyanasundrum won8-6.

With the victory, the Colonels improved to 10-8, and pulled to within one game of .500 in the Southland Conference with a league record of 5-6. Nicholls has now won six of its last seven outings.

The Colonels will return to action on Saturday when they host Northwestern State at the Colonel Tennis Complex beginning at 10:00 a.m.
