Antonio Robinson Signs with Chicago Bears

April 25, 2010

THIBODAUX, La. - Former Nicholls State University wide receiver Antonio Robinson has landed with the Chicago Bears, signing an undrafted free agent deal, announced the organization late Sunday afternoon.

Robinson led the Colonels triple-option attack last season with 490 yards on 27 receptions and four touchdowns, and also had 159 yards rushing and two scores. The Miami, Fla. native was an All-Southland Second Team selection in 2009.

Robinson, who also notched return specialist honorable mention honors as a senior, did not get many touches in the Colonels predominantly rushing attack, but when he did, he proved to be a playmaker. For example, the 6'3'' wide receiver only touched the ball twice against Central Arkansas in 2009, both resulting in touchdowns.

As a junior, Robinson led the FCS in yards per catch with a 25.1 yards/catch average. Robinson's signing with the Bears marks the fourth consecutive year that Nicholls has had a player either get drafted or sign a post-draft free agent deal. He joins Jacob Bender (New York Jets - 2007), Kareem Moore (Washington Redskins - 2008), and Lardarius Webb (Baltimore Ravens - 2009).
