GREENSBORO, N.C. - Thunderstorms in the Greensboro area forced the postponement of the final two running events on day two of the 2010 NCAA Championship East Preliminaries on Friday. With the men's and women's 3k steeplechase races washed out, Nicholls State junior distance runner Kadi Whisnant will have to wait until Saturday for her turn on the track.
After heavy thunderstorms washed out the steeplechase events, officials announced that the women's steeple would commence at 10:10 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Whisnant will be the third and final Colonel to enter competition at the NCAA East Prelims. On Wednesday, the Nicholls javelin duo of senior Leslie Bourgeois and freshman Aja Scott had a successful day at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T. Bourgeois placed fourth and clinched a spot at her second career NCAA Championship Finals, and Scott claimed 33rd place, 14 spots up from her 47th place entry mark in her first collegiate postseason meet.
