Megan Gaspard was named second-team Southland Conference All-Academic

Megan Gaspard was named to the 2011 Southland Conference All-Academic Second Team, announced the league office on Tuesday.
Gaspard's selection to the SLC All-Academic team marks the fourth straight year in which a player from the Colonel softball team has earned all-academic.
A health and human performance major, Gaspard finished with a 3.07 GPA in addition to being one of the best on the base paths in the Southland Conference this season. Gaspard, who played centerfield and short stop for the Colonels, ranked second in the SLC with 22 stolen bases and was fifth with 37 runs scored while hitting .330 on the year.
The all-academic teams are voted on by the head coaches, sports information directors and academic/compliance administrators from each Southland university. Student-athletes must possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA, have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competition to qualify for the all-academic squad.
