FRISCO, Texas – Nicholls State University sophomore javelin thrower
Jaimee Springer made the 2012 Southland Conference Women's Track and Field and Cross Country All-Academic Team the league announced this afternoon.
Consisting of student-athletes from the indoor and outdoor track and field and cross country seasons, nominees must maintain a 3.0 GPA and participate in at least half of their team's competitions.
A native of Edmonton, Alberta, and majoring in Athletic Training, Springer finished one spot away from making the East Prelim finals and she repeated as runner-up in the Southland Conference Championships in the javelin, which was one of her seven top-five finishes on the season.
Springer won competitions in back-to-back meets at the Mississippi Open in Oxford and Southeastern Lion Invitational, while placing in the top four in four other meets during the regular season. She was also a silver medal winner at the Nicholls Academic Gala for maintaining a 3.5 or above GPA for the past year.
