BATON ROUGE, La. –
The Nicholls State University men's and women's cross country teams faced some strong competition at the LSU Invitational on Saturday morning, coming away with solid performances from both sides.

The Colonel women finished third overall in the meet behind LSU and Lamar, while the Colonel men finished sixth.

Nicholls had three runners in the top 20 finishers on the women's side, led by last week's cross country athlete of the week in Tessni Carruthers who finished fourth in 21:09.7, followed by Jackie White in 16th place in 23:00.9 and Sarah Pressley in 18th place with a time of 23:12.4.

Sebie O'Neill paced the men's team again on Saturday, clocking in 28:56.9 to finish 17th overall, followed by Kane Daigle's 26th place finish in 29:57 and Reece Vitale's 40th place finish in 32:23.3.

Rounding out the Colonel runners on the women's side in the top 30 was Emily Charlesworth with her time of 24:08.1 to finish 25th.

Ashley Johnson finished in 25:43.7 followed by Victoria Williams' time of 26:18.5, Emily Carrere's time of 26:28.2, Maria Mondello's time of 28:04.4 and Terrian Gauff's time of 31:56.4 were the final Nicholls times of the day.

Nicholls will be back in action next Saturday, competing in the McNeese Cowboy Stampede in Lake Charles.
