FRISCO, Texas – For the second time this season, Nicholls State University junior runner Tessni Carruthers was named the Southland Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week the league announced today.

Carruthers earned her second individual title of the season last week by winning the Choctaw Open hosted by Mississippi College. The British Columbia, Canada (Vernon Secondary H.S.), native completed the 5K course in 18:16.78 to lead the Colonels to a second-place finish overall.

The Colonels are off this week, preparing for the Southland Conference Cross Country Championships in Lake Charles next weekend.
