Nicholls Student-Athletes Visit W.S. Lafargue Elementary

THIBODAUX, La. – Members of the Nicholls State University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee recently took time away from their respective sports to spend a day at W.S. Lafargue Elementary School as a part of the "Christmas in the Southland" initiative.

Nicholls had representatives from each of the University's 14 intercollegiate sports on hand during the day, as the student-athletes interacted with many of the school's various grades through recess, lunchtime and even reading to students and sharing some of their best memories in multiple classrooms.

"With the athletes coming on campus, we have some children that need good role models in their lives and by them giving their time they show that you can have dreams and have something to aspire to," W.S. Lafargue principal Monica Tauzin said. "We really appreciate Nicholls and the student-athletes for taking the time to come to our classrooms and make lasting impact on the kids."

Throughout the year, SAAC will continue to visit various schools in the Thibodaux area, along with contributing to other community service organizations during the academic and athletic year.
