Carruthers Repeats As All-LSWA Honoree

LAKE CHARLES, La. – For the second consecutive season, Nicholls State University cross country runner Tessni Carruthers was named All-Louisiana by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association it was announced late last night, being one of just two Southland Conference athletes to make the cut.

The seven-member squad features Carruthers and Amy Talbot of McNeese State, along with LSU's Andria Aguilar and Morgan Shuetz, Tulane's Katherine Smiley, ULM's Pauline Muiruri and Xavier's Catherine Falker, who was also named Athlete of the Year.

Carruthers was the constant low stick for the Colonels women's team for the second consecutive year at the Southland Conference Cross Country Championships in November after finishing 12th at the league meets to earn honorable mention All-Southland Conference honors.

The British Columbia, Canada native had top ten finishes in four of the group's five meets on the season, including claiming individual titles at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede and the Mississippi College Choctaw Open. The even in Lake Charles was also a record setting moment for Carruthers, as she set a new school record in the 5K distance at Nicholls with her time of 17 minutes, 51.5 seconds.
