Nicholls took home three titles on Saturday at the McNeese Relays

THIBODAUX, La. – Hoping to piggyback off of the success of the indoor season, the Nicholls State University women's track and field team wasted little time in setting the tone for the outdoor season claiming three titles and getting nine top ten finishes to finish fifth at the Bob Hayes Cowboy Relays in Lake Charles on Saturday.
The Colonels finished fifth in the team standings at the end of the day, earning 55 total points, ten ahead of Jackson State. McNeese won the team title with 146.50 points, followed by Southeastern Louisiana, Central Arkansas and Northwestern State.
Jackie White continues to tear through the competition as she continues her streak of wins in taking home gold in the mile in thrilling fashion, crossing the tape in five minutes, .17 seconds.
Coming off of another strong NCAA preliminary performance last season,
Jaimee Springer started her season off on a good note in winning the javelin throw, with Colonel teammate
Aja Scott finishing second as the only two competitors to clear 40 meters on the day. Springer won the event with a throw of 143 feet, one inch (43.61), while Scott finished second with a toss of 133 feet, 11 inches (40.81).
Anna Foulds finished tenth in the competition with a throw of 115 feet (35.05).
Emily Charlesworth finished second in the women's 3000-meter run, clocking in at 11 minutes, 7.46 seconds, as
Sarah Pressley finished seventh with a time of 11 minutes, 37.65 seconds. Taking on the 400-meter hurdles,
Kryshell Rolle finished third overall with her time of one minute, 3.40 seconds, as she was the last Nicholls athlete to finish in the top five on the afternoon with Amalechi Eweni rounding out the top ten finishers with a ninth place performance in the triple jump clearing 35 feet, two inches.
The women's 4x800-meter relay group had the fastest time by over 20 seconds, taking home the title with a time of nine minutes, 33.14 seconds.
