Colonel Athletics Spends Day at Chackbay Elementary

THIBODAUX, La. – Several Nicholls State University student-athletes took time out of their busy schedules to visit Chackbay Elementary on Thursday to help reward the children at a Good Behavior Party.
 
The Colonel athletes spent the day playing with kids from grades kindergartner through fifth grade, while also talking to them about the importance of team work, good behavior and doing well in school.
 
"We are so thankful for the positive interaction that our students had with the Nicholls athletes at Chackbay Elementary School. Our students had so much fun playing sports with the Colonel athletes," said Allison Passman, Professional School Counselor at Chackbay. "I was impressed with number of volunteers, the way they interacted with our kids and set a great example for them. I know our students will remember this day for a long time! It was a hot day, but worth the sweat and time! Thanks again from all of us at CES!"
 
A total of six teams were able to participate in the event, as well as a few members of the Colonel cheerleading squad. Athletes representing each team are listed below:
 
Baseball – Mike Hanchar, Evan Hileman, Darius Knight, Charles Morton, Alex Shermer
Football – Terry Lucas Jr., Darryl Watson II
Soccer – Amanda Boylson
Softball – Kristen Ahearn, Cari Spain, Haley Stevenson
Volleyball – Kaci Eaton, Kalynn Egea, Kayla Mashburn
Women's basketball – Shay Arnick, Jenny Nash, Emani White
