Carruthers Earns Southland Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – Nicholls State University junior Tessni Carruthers was named Southland Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Carruthers, a junior from British Columbia, Canada, set a school record for the second consecutive meet, placing second in the mile with a time of 4:57.01 at the LSU Twilight. Along with her time being the first sub-five minute mile in indoor history for the Colonels, it also is the second fastest league time heading into the indoor conferences championships this week.

Carruthers and the Colonels will wrap up the indoor season in the Southland Conference Championships in Birmingham, Ala., starting on Wednesday, Feb. 26.
