Colonels Blanked in Perfect Game Loss at No. 14 South Alabama

Final Stats MOBILE, Ala. – The Nicholls State University softball team failed to have a runner reach base in 21 at-bats as No. 14 South Alabama's Hannah Campbell tossed a perfect game to defeat the Colonels 2-0 Wednesday night at Jaguar Field.

Freshman Jackie Johnson (6-11) took the loss, despite limiting the nationally-ranked Lady Jaguars to just four hits. USA (20-3) scored the game's only runs on a two-run home run by Chloe Rathburn in the fourth. Johnson pitched all six innings, striking out five while walking three. One of her walks came in the fourth before Rathburn's shot to left.

Campbell (6-2) fanned 12 Colonels in her quest for perfection, striking out the side in first and third innings. She ended the game with a looking strikeout of Brittany Marcet.

The Colonels (8-19) will return to conference play next weekend at the Colonel Softball Complex with a three-game series against Lamar. Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
