Biography

Barbara Naquin enters her 23rd year as assistant trainer in charge of women[apos]s athletics. This is her 33rd overall year associated with Nicholls Athletics. The South Terrebonne native joined the athletic department staff as a student manager/student athletic trainer for women[apos]s athletics in 1975. She remained on staff and served as a student athletic trainer until earning her bachelor[apos]s degree in physical education in 1976. She remained on the staff as a graduate assistant athletic trainer until 1981 when she earned a Master of Education degree. Naquin was named the athletic equipment manager for women[apos]s athletics in 1981. In 1986, she became a nationally-certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). Naquin received the inaugural Norman Swanner Support Staff of the Year Award during the spring 2008 Colonel Awards Banquet. In the summer of 2007, Naquin was inducted into the Louisiana Athletic Trainers[apos] Hall of Fame, and is the only woman to receive this honor. She was also the recipient of the 2006 Backbone Award given to the Assistant Athletic Trainer each year by the Southeastern Louisiana Athletic Trainers[apos] Association, who is the consummate professional that goes above and beyond the call of duty as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. Naquin travels extensively with Nicholls[apos] volleyball and softball teams. She also assists with football.
