Dakota Hill

Being both the youngest ASA/USA Softball State J.O Commissioner and Regional J.O Commissioner in the country, Dakota Hill is well known in the game of softball, at all levels of the game, from the recreational to Olympic level, he has gained respect as someone who truly loves the game, and is willing to help anyone who asks for it.

As the Nicholls Director of Operations, Hill helps Coaches Angel Santiago and Jessica Seamon with the everyday operations that are required within a Division 1 program, coordinates gameday logistics, and compiles scouting reports for the coaches.

As the ASA/USA Softball J.O Commissioner he oversees all of the youth programs in the state, and as the Region 6 J.O Commissioner, he oversees over 6,000 youth participants in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana. ASA/USA Softball is the National Governing Body of Softball, and is responsible for selecting and training the U.S National Team.

Before coming to Nicholls, Hill spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons at Southeastern Louisiana in the same position, where he worked under longtime Head Coach Pete Langlois, until Langlois’ stepped down after 22 years as a coach, to move into an administrative position within the department. While with the Lady Lion Softball program, Hill oversaw the team’s annual season opening tournament, and also coordinated last minute scheduling changes due to the winter weather across the country, including scheduling a tournament in less than a week. With these events in mind, Hill created a scheduling website for college coaches to use to find places to play.

While in Hammond, Hill coordinated all the Lady Lion’s fundraising activities. Through hosting two fundraising exposure tournaments within nine months, the Lady Lions were able to raise over $63,000 for the program. The summer 2015 tournament saw the Lady Lions host one of the largest NCAA Official’s camps in the country, which saw the National Coordinator of Officials and most of the umpires from the 2015 Women’s College World Series in attendance as evaluators. Conferences such as the SEC, Big 12, Big 10, Sun Belt, and Southland were represented, as the different Coordinators of Officials evaluated umpires for possible spring assignments.

Before he joined the Lady Lion softball team, Hill worked within the SLU Athletic Dept. from 2009-14, in many different roles as both a student worker and volunteer, from being the radio color analyst for the 2012 basketball season, to gameday operations in all the sports, he was a constant presence at SLU’s athletic events.

Hill has also worked for the Walt Disney Company and is a certified sports official in seven sports, working over 250 assignments a year, he is known for his knowledge of the rules, and ability to manage games. He worked the 2015 ASA 14u Southern National Championships in Broken Arrow, Okla, and the 2014 Dixie Belles (16u) World Series in Ponchatoula, La.

Hill, a native of Holden, La., graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2015 with a Bachelors of General Studies, with minors in Political Science and History.
