Kat Frakes

Kat Frakes is in her first year as an assistant coach for the Colonels in 2022-2023 where she will serve as the pitching coach.

Frakes comes to Thibodaux after spending last season (2022) as an assistant coach for Drury University, where the Panthers took third in the Great Valley Lakes Conference and made the program's first appearance in the NCAA Division II postseason tournament. Drury posted a 37-17 overall record with a 21-7 record in conference play. Drury softball pitcher Kristina Bettis became the program's first-ever All-American selection when she named to the First Team of the 2022 NCAA-II All-American squad by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Bettis went 24-5 with a 1.05 earned run average for the Panthers and shattered the team's single-season strikeout record, fanning 271 hitters in 214.2 innings.

Prior to coaching, Frakes was a student-athlete for two years at Barton Community College where she was an all-conference selection. Though her career was cut short due to injury, she finished her last couple of years of eligibility as a student coach.

Frakes earned her bachelor's degree in psychology with an emphasis in sports from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas.
