Leah Peterson, a former standout for Colonels in softball, enters her second season as an assistant coach for Nicholls.
Peterson, who lettered three seasons for Nicholls, finished up her four-year career in 2007. The Berwick, La. native was a full time starter at third base for the Colonels, which included being named to the Southland Conference Second Team twice (2006-07), and a LSWA First Team selection at third base in 2007. Peterson finished her career as the all-time leader in career doubles (41), doubles in a season (19), and most doubles in a game (3).
Besides possessing the ability to stretch a single into a double in the blink of an eye, Peterson also finished up her stint at Nicholls on the field as fifth on the all-time career hit list (167) and on the all-time career RBI list (90). Peterson also left Nicholls as a player with a .298 career batting average and fourth on the career total bases list (263).
Peterson, 22, graduated from Nicholls in 2007 with a degree in Human Performance and English, and currently resides in Thibodaux, La.
