Eric Sturgis

Eric Sturgis joined the Nicholls Tennis coaching staff at the start of the 2017 spring season. Prior to Nicholls, Sturgis had stints as head coach at Lindenwood, Lake Superior State and Mount Saint Mary College.

While at LSSU, he signed a pair of star recruits on the men's side and one two-star recruit for the women. Prior to his stint with the Lakers, Sturgis coached at Mount Saint Mary College where he recruited the league's Freshman of the Year.

Sturgis is a former collegiate and junior tennis player, while having plenty of experience in tennis instruction and coaching. He started coaching high school tennis when he was just 18 years old and has done so for the past 13 years.

He's coached seven individual State Champions, three doubles State Champions and he took Troy High School to its highest finish in school history (third) in 2007. Sturgis has also been named Regional Coach of the Year three times.

He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's in History from Eastern Michigan University. Sturgis is a United States Professional Tennis Registry High Performance (USPTR) Certified Tennis Instructor.
