Joe Lombardi is in his first season (2026) as the Tight Ends coach for the Nicholls Colonels.
Lombardi comes to Nicholls after spending two seasons as the University of Louisiana Tight Ends Graduate Assistant. Lombardi was a student assistant in 2023 after joining the team as a tight end from 2020-2022. During his tenure at UL, the Cajuns went to six straight bowl games and were Sun Belt Champions.Â
With deep roots running through the bayou, Lombardi has been in Louisiana since he attended Jesuit High School in New Orleans as a two-year letterman on the varsity football team.
Lombardi’s love for ball goes way back, coming from a long line of football coaches with his father, Joe Lombardi, coaching multiple NFL teams and his great grandfather, Vince Lombardi, a pro football hall of famer.
Lombardi is married to his wife, Piper.
