Shane Kliebert proudly steps into his new role as the Director of Colonel Athletic Association, fueled by an unyielding passion for Nicholls State University and its athletic endeavors. A two-time graduate of Nicholls, Kliebert earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education in 2006 and his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership in 2014.
Kliebert's connection to Nicholls runs deep, forged during his time as a student-athlete from 2001 to 2005. As a defensive end for the Colonels football team, he played under the mentorship of esteemed coaches Daryl Daye and Jay Thomas, as well as the guidance of then-coach Jonathan Terrell, who currently serves as Nicholls Athletic Director. His commitment to excellence on the field mirrored his dedication in the classroom, where he learned the values of hard work, dedication, and resilience.
His athletic journey at Nicholls was marked by notable achievements, including securing the first Division 1A victory in school history against Arkansas State and helping build the foundation for the 2005 Conference Championship team, the first since 1984. Kliebert's tenure as a student-athlete not only instilled in him a profound sense of pride but also taught him invaluable lessons in teamwork, perseverance, and leadership.
Transitioning from the field to the classroom, he dedicated over two decades of his career to St. James High School, where he served in various capacities, including teacher, football coach, and Principal. During his tenure, Shane demonstrated exceptional leadership, driving significant improvements in academic performance and disciplinary measures. Under his guidance, St. James High achieved a remarkable 98% graduation rate and came within two points of earning an "A" status.
Kliebert's passion for education and athletics extends beyond his professional endeavors. His bond with his alma mater runs deep, as evidenced by serving on various boards and committees, including the Alumni Federation Board of Directors Colonel Athletic Advisory Board and the HuddleUp! Executive Committee. His commitment to fostering excellence and promoting the values of Nicholls are unwavering.
Currently residing in Chackbay, Louisiana, with his wife Lisa and their two children, Kade and Hallie; Kliebert continues to exemplify the spirit of Nicholls both on and off the field. His appointment as the Director of Colonel Athletic Association signifies a new chapter in his journey. With a vision to propel Nicholls Athletics to new heights, Kliebert stands ready to lead the charge. His unwavering commitment, coupled with his extensive experience in education, administration, organization and fundraising, ensures a bright future for the Colonel Athletic Association.
