MONROE, La. - Louisiana-Monroe's Raymond Philyaw completed touchdown passes of 45 and 8 yards, and the Indian defense came up with a key turnover late in the fourth quarter to hold on to a 14-12 win.
Nicholls pulled to 14-12 with 4:34 left to play when Brad Zeller scored on a 1-yard touchdown run after completing a 32-yard pass to Terrell Lewis. On the two-point conversion, Zeller swung a pass out to Frank Wilson who was dropped for a loss.
Nicholls forced the Indians to punt after three plays and got the ball back with 2:11 remaining. Zeller completed an 8-yard pass to Kip Rohner then a 9-yarder to Wilson before running out of the pocket for a 10-yard gain to the ULM 33. On the following play, Zeller went up the middle on a draw but fumbled inside the 10 with 55 seconds to play.
Ivan Williams recorded eight solo tackles in being named SFL Defensive Player of the Week. Williams had nine total stops, including four in the fourth quarter. One was for a 2-yard loss.Â
