JACKSON, Miss. - Four different Colonels notched double-digit kills and a pair of Colonels recorded double-doubles as the Nicholls State University women's volleyball team (11-7) rallied to claim a 3-2 victory at Jackson State (12-11) in the Colonels' final non-conference match of the season.
Jackson State started strong claiming the first two sets of the match. The Tigers, who boast non-conference wins over UL-Monroe and the University of New Orleans, outhit the Colonels in each of the first two sets. The Tigers hit .265 in the opening frame and .241 in the second. Meanwhile, the Nicholls offense struggled to get started hitting .174 in the first and .077 in the second en route to a pair of losses by the scores of 25-20 and 25-16.
Down 2-0, the Colonels stormed back in the third set. The Nicholls offense committed just two attack errors in the third set en route to a .326 team hitting percentage (16-2-43) in that frame. The Colonels opened the third frame with a 7-0 run, and never trailed en route to a 25-23 win.
Down 2-1, the Colonels battled the Tigers through four tie scores in the fourth set, but the Colonels held on for the 25-20 win to event the match at 2-2 and force a fifth and decisive set.
Nicholls had to rally in the final set after the Tigers opened with a 4-0 run. However, the Colonels soon recovered thanks to a .370 hitting percentage (13-3-27) that helped Nicholls claim the 15-13 win and the 3-1 victory.

Jennifer Brandt (13 kills, 10 digs) led the way for the Colonels by recording double-doubles. Meanwhile, sophomore middle blockers
Jasmine Harris (11 kills) and
Jessica Addicks (team-high 17 kills) each recorded double-digit kills to help the Colonel cause.
The match with the Tigers concludes a four-match road trip for Nicholls. The Colonels will return to action on Friday when they host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in their annual Dig for the Cure Breast Cancer Awareness Match. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at Stopher Gym.
