The Colonels will conclude the 2010 season at home this weekend
THIBODAUX - The Nicholls State University women's soccer team (6-9-1, 0-7-0 Southland Confernce) will wrap up the most successful season in school history this weekend when the Colonels conclude the 2010 regular season with a two-match homestand against Northwestern State (7-10-1, 2-4-1 Southland) on Friday and Central Arkansas (6-7-3, 2-3-2 Southland) on Sunday.
The Colonels, who have won a school record six matches on the season to surpass the previous record of four set in 2003 and matched in 2006 and 2009, will try to snap a seven-match losing streak, and pick up their first conference win of the season beginning with Friday's match with the Demons.
Nicholls heads into the match-up led by one of the top goal scorers in the nation. Senior forward Kaity Mattsson enters the final weekend of her career among the top-30 in the nation in four categories: goals per game (14th, 0.75), goals (15th, 12), points per game (20th, 1.69) and total points (28th, 27).
Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at the Nicholls soccer field. Following the contest with the Demons, the Colonels will return to action by concluding the 2010 regular season on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Central Arkansas
