The Colonels will look to keep their perfect record against SUNO in tact on Monday
THIBODAUX - The Nicholls State University men's basketball team (2-2) will look to keep their perfect record against Southern-New Orleans (2-4) in tact when the Colonels take on the Knights at Stopher Gym on Monday night. It will mark the fifth all-time meeting between the two schools with Nicholls owning a 4-0 record.
Nicholls will look to maintain the momentum that carried them to a 66-52 win over Tulane in the Colonels' last outing on Friday. The Colonels' black Friday victory over the Wave snapped an 0-18 skid against Tulane in the all-time series between the two schools. It marked the second time this season that the Colonels picked up their first ever win against an in-state rival. Nicholls snapped LSU's 82-game home court win streak against in-state schools with a 62-53 win in Baton Rouge on Nov. 12 for the Colonels' first ever win over LSU.
Nicholls is led by senior guard/forward
Anatoly Bose who has recorded seven consecutive 20-point games dating back to last season, and tying the longest such stretch of his career. The Sydney, Australia native has recorded 33 20-point games in his career.
The Colonels also feature one of the most aggressive defenses in the country. The Nicholls defense has forced an average of 19.25 turnovers through its first four games and owns a +5.00 turnover margin, the third best average in the Southland Conference.
Following the contest with SUNO, the Colonels will conclude their three-game homestand by taking on Loyola-New Orleans at the Houma-Terrebone Civic Center. Tipoff against the Wolfpack is set for 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 8.
