The Colonels open a two-game homestand beginning with Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday
THIBODAUX - After dropping a hard-fought decision at North Texas on Monday, the Nicholls State University women's basketball team (2-6) will try to get back on track when they host the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (3-3). Tipoff against the Wildcats is set for 5 p.m. at Stopher Gym on Wednesday.
The Colonels will look to rebound from a heartbreaking loss at UNT on Monday. After leading by 11 at the half, Nicholls fell victim to a pair of big second half runs by the Mean Green, falling to UNT 61-56 and stretching their losing skid to six.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats enter Wednesday night's contest riding high after upsetting UL-Lafayette on Monday night. A last-second layup gave Bethune-Cookman the 63-61 win. BCU also owns wins over Florida Memorial (70-53 on Nov. 12) and Jacksonville State (57-46 on Nov. 27) as well as a hard-fought loss to College of Charleston (59-56 on Nov. 19). The Wildcats are led by Demetria Frank's 16.7 point/game average. Jasmine Daniels helps the BCU attack with an 11.2 point/game mark.
Nicholls will look to avenge an 83-69 loss at BCU last season behind the strength of a trio of double digit scoring threats. Freshman guard
KK Babin leads the team with a 13.6 point/game average. She is joined by senior guard
Ricshanda Bickham who ranks second on the team with a 13.3 point/game mark and sophomore
Alisha Allen who ranks third on the squad with an 11.9 ppg average and owns a team-best 6.3 rebound/game mark.
Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. at Stopher Gym. Following the game, the Colonels will return to action by hosting Colonial Athletic Association power Georgia State in Stopher Gym on Saturday.
