Bose Drains Career Record Seven Threes as Nicholls Rolls Past Dillard

Final Stats Box Score and Play-by-Play

THIBODAUX -
Senior forward Anatoly Bose drained seven consecutive three point attempts, setting a single game career high en route to his second 30-point night of the season as the Nicholls State University men's basketball team (5-4) cruised to a 94-52 win over Dillard of New Orleans on Thursday night.

Bose totaled 30 points on 7-for-15 shooting while going 7-for-9 from three-point range.  After missing his first attempt from beyond the arc, the Sydney, Australia native drained seven consecutive threes and sank 9-of-10 free throw attempts en route to a game-high 30 points.  It marked Bose's school record 36th career game with 20 or more points, his fifth career 30 point night, and his second 30 point performance of this season.  Bose's last 30-point performance came in a 37-point outing at Oklahoma State on Nov. 21.  Bose finished just two three pointers away from tying the school record of nine set by Kelvin Hamilton against Air Force in 1992.

Bose was joined in double digit point production by senior point guard Kenny Franklin Jr. and junior guard/forward Fred Hunter.  Franklin turned in a career high 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting while connecting on all three of his three point attempts.  The Shreveport native narrowly missed his first career double-double by dishing out eight assists.  Franklin finished one assist shy of his career high of nine, set on Nov. 26 in a win over Tulane.

Meanwhile, Hunter narrowly missed out on a 20-point night, shooting 9-for-16 from the field en route to 19 points.  It marked the fifth time in the Colonels last six games that at least three Nicholls players scored in double digits.

As a team, Nicholls turned in it's best shooting performance of the season.  The Colonels shot a season best .579 (33-for-57) from the floor, including a .632 mark (12-for-19) from three point range.

With the Nicholls offense rolling, the Colonel defense kept the Bleu Devils in check by forcing 24 turnovers and recording 12 steals.  On the defensive end, Nicholls was led by senior guard Kellan Carter and junior guard Ben Martin who totaled four steals each.

Thursday's win over Dillard marked Nicholls' seventh consecutive home court victory dating back to last season.  The Colonels improved to 24-4 in home games since the start of the 2008-09 season, an .857 winning percentage.

Nicholls will return to action on Dec. 21 when the Colonels host Jarvis Christian in the home finale of the non-conference season.  A win over Jarvis would clinch the program's best ten-game start to a season since 1994-95, the year of the Colonels' first trip to the NCAA Tournament as a division one school.  Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. in Stopher Gym on Dec. 21.
