THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University men's tennis defeated Air Force Academy 5-1 on Sunday morning to close the regular season with its best record in school history.
The Colonels finished 2010 with 14 wins and five losses, notching the school's most wins in a single season and eclipsing the last two season's total of 13.
Nicholls and Air Force Academy only played singles in an effort to get the match in due to weather constraints.
Junior Radu Ionescu captured an important victory at No. 1 singles, defeating Lance Wilhelm 7-5, 6-7, 6-3 and set the tone for the rest of the match as Nicholls only lost one in singles play.
