THIBODAUX – The Nicholls State University football team concluded the “Huddle with the Colonels” Tour with the second annual Kickoff Luncheon on Monday afternoon at Bayou Country Club in Thibodaux where 100 people were in attendance.

“It was great to get the support at the luncheon, especially leading up to our first game of the season. The coaches and student-athletes are excited about this Saturday, and having our community behind us only adds to it,” said Head Coach Charlie Stubbs.

The “Huddle with the Colonels” Tour saw the Nicholls football team make trips to Galliano and Houma before making the third and final stop in Thibodaux today.

“I was delighted by the response of the community, and there is clearly an excitement in the air surrounding Colonel Football,” added Nicholls Athletics Director Rob Bernardi.

Approximately 400 total fans came out between all three stops of the 'Huddle with the Colonels' tour to learn about Nicholls football and the upcoming 2010 season. All three stops featured coaches and student-athletes personally reaching out to the surrounding communities, and joining them were some members of the Colonel Athletic Association.
