The Colonels (0-3) spent their first three games away, playing at San Diego State, Western Michigan and South Alabama prior to the home debut. The Warriors (1-2) had an open date last week, and lost their last outing 21-12 to Southwest Baptist on Saturday, September 11.
Besides being homecoming, it will also be the first home game in the
Charlie Stubbs era.
“I am very excited for our team to play at home. It will be my first experience in the stadium with hopefully a very enthusiastic crowd. Our plans are to play with great effort and execute to give the fans lots to cheer about,” said Stubbs.
The Colonels have made progress from game to game over the past three contests, increasingly scoring more points and tallying more yards from week to week.
In the game against South Alabama, Nicholls had 418 yards of total offense and 21 points – both season highs for the team. Also in the game, Colonel sophomore quarterback
LaQuintin Caston tossed over 300 yards in the win, marking the first Nicholls quarterback to accomplish the bench mark since Brad Smith threw for 337 against Jacksonville State in 1999.

Jesse Turner in the first quarter. It was the second longest pass play in school history. Turner also had a prolific day, tallying 205 yards of total offense.
“I feel that the team has made significant progress in many areas. To win games, we must continue to improve, must learn to work thru adversity, and finish while playing four complete quarters of football,” added Stubbs about his teams progression.
On the defensive side, Nicholls is led by senior free safety
Tarbbaris Hicks entering the game against Bacone College with 26 total tackles (12 solo) with one for a loss.
