Nicholls Volleyball Looks for Third Straight Conference Win Over McNeese State

THIBODAUX - The Nicholls State University women's volleyball team (9-5, 2-0 Southland Conference) puts its perfect conference record on the line on Saturday when the Colonels welcome McNeese State (5-10, 0-2 Southland Conference) to Stopher Gym on Saturday afternoon.

The Colonels enter the contest fresh off a win in a five set thriller over Lamar on Thursday that kept Nicholls in a two-way tie for first place in the Southland Conference East Division with Central Arkansas.  After winning nine of their first 14 matches, the Colonels need just four wins to match their overall and conference win totals from 2009.

Nicholls' defense has led the way in the first part of the season.  The Colonels rank second in the conference with a .165 opponent hitting percentage and a 16.73 dig/set average.  Junior libero Danielle Daigle leads all Southland players with a 5.77 dig/set average and ranked first in the nation in that category heading into the week.

First serve is set for 2 p.m. at Stopher Gym.  Live stats will be available at www.geauxcolonels.com.
